That old time religion is the truth!

Here are two videos by the ever faithful Henry Mahan.

Sad and shameful side of so called Christian blogs...

The owner came over here and posted negative links about a fellow believer, so I had some fun and comic relief by posting on his blog and getting deleted, but really, there are some very strange professing Christians out there who ought to be doing anything else!

Good for a chuckle, and I empathize with Daniel Chew who seems to be a target of this particular site. Shame on them.

Is Sean Penn a Profit, er Prophet?

During his acceptance speech at this years "Academy Awards", an industry that self glorifies itself about this time every year, unlike other professions, who tend to get on with doing their jobs as silent achievers.

Anyway, he spoke to the issue of the beating down of the same sex marriage bill that was voted down in California.
He stated that the shame of such an act shall be a blight upon our Grandchildren.

He is saying that Christianity as we know it, shall one day become an embarrassment in the culture.

Of course, the reality of what he is advocating, is entirely correct.
Yes, Christianity has become an embarrassment in the culture.

Of course, before the throne of God, there is no shame at all, but before the world, if we oppose same sex marriage, we shall be on the outer for sure.
This mood and world-view, strangely represented by a mixed up person like Penn, shall more and more become the norm in this deteriorating culture.

The shame in the end shall be with all of those who follow Penn and the modern culture, for in the end, God will not be mocked.

These are rapidly changing and challenging times.

What are you dear Christian going to do, when the popular culture totally ignores you for opposing homosexual same sex marriage etc, and even decide to threaten your place even as a fit parent or member of society? They have already deemed that your children and grandchildren shall be shamed by you. You are supporting the indefensible, out of step with the times and you are like the old racists etc.

Will you count the cost?

Now forget Sean Penn for a moment, as he is a hypocrite and one messed up poster boy for the left, but he believes history is going his way, and it most certainly is I believe.

His attitude flows freely in the Hollywood sect, but it also is flowing freely right around the corner, in your next door neighbor and even in your own family and Church.

Interesting times.

A must hear Sermon....

Oh the irony!

Daniel's Place - (Reformata et semper reformanda): Satire: If Galatians was a contemporary article published by CT

Funny but sad when you think about it and too true!

Dr. Lloyd-Jones on the Altar Call

Just a few quotes from the good Dr upon the subject of "Alter Calls".

The history of this invitation system is one with which you people ought to be more familiar than anyone else, because it began in America. It began in the 1820s; the real originator of it was Charles G. Finney. It led to a great controversy.

One reason is that there is no evidence that this was done in New Testament times, because then they trusted to the power of the Spirit. Peter preaching on the Day of Pentecost under the power of the Spirit, for instance, had no need to call people forward in decision because, as you remember, the people were so moved and affected by the power of the Word and Spirit that they actually interrupted the preacher, crying out, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

The moment you begin to introduce this other element, you are bringing a psychological element. The invitation should be in the message. We believe the Spirit applies the message, so we trust in the power of the Spirit.

I can sum it up by putting it like this: I feel that this pressure which is put upon people to come forward in decision ultimately is due to a lack of faith in the work and operation of the Holy Spirit.

The order in Scripture seems to be this - the truth is presented to the mind, which moves the heart, and that in turn moves the will.

Liked this quote!

If an atheist was consistent he'd play Russian Roulette with all six chambers loaded. All the while he would have to believe that the bullet may or may not fire.

Infant Baptism Scriptural and Reasonable.

Time for me to put up another positive presentation regarding Infant Baptism.
I sincerely ask my Baptist Brothers and Sisters to give it a careful and sincere read, and then maybe share their thoughts with me.

As some of you might know, I used to be very strong in defending the "Credo/believers only" position, until I was really challenged to reconsider, by actually taking the necessary time to investigate the Paedo position much more carefully.

I did, and became convinced of the Reformed position on this matter, and it's importance.

Have a careful read of this treatise....

Had a great vacation with the family, but glad to be back home again.
Thank you Lord for all of your care, provision and blessings.
